What Is the Difference Between Posed and Lifestyle Newborn Photography?
My main goal is to meet my clients’ expectations. The first question I ask my clients when I receive a newborn session inquiry is whether they are looking for a stylized photo session (which is a more traditional way to photograph newborns - at a studio) or a lifestyle session (basically a family session with the newest family member inside your home).
Lifestyle sessions are done at the comfort of your home, the idea is to photograph the baby in natural settings and poses. Lifestyle photography is a more go-with-the-flow type of imagery.
Lifestyle sessions do not include photographer’s props.
For lifestyle sessions the parents are going to be handling and posing the baby.
Although I can bring studio lighting with me if you think there isn’t enough natural light at your home, the lifestyle sessions are normally done in natural light settings.
Lifestyle photography can include the baby by himself or herself too, but tends to have more images of family interactions.
Lifestyle sessions take between 1 and 1.5 hours.
Lifestyle newborn photography doesn’t require a sleeping baby through the whole session, this is why this kind of session is more flexible on when the baby can be photographed.
